Is there going to be another Mass Effect after Andromeda? ›

While we know that Mass Effect 5 is definitely in development at BioWare, we only really get any vague updates or info on the game around N7 day - aka November 7. With Dragon Age Dreadwolf clearly the next game to come out from BioWare, we imagine it's going to be quite the wait for the next Mass Effect game.

As if any of you need reminding – but just in case, here's the official teaser trailer for the next Mass Effect. Oh yes, she might not be returning quite like you remember her, but Shepard is coming back in a new Mass Effect RPG.

Shepard does not make a direct appearance, though players can select Shepard's gender at the start of the game. Shepard is referenced both in conversations between characters, and in audio logs sent by Liara T'Soni to Alec Ryder, the player character's father.

Good things come to those who wait, and that's ultimately the current development phase of the game. Mass Effect 4 is in development.

While players may be disappointed that a sequel to Mass Effect: Andromeda may never see the light of day, they can take solace in the fact that a new instalment is currently in the works. While details about the game are scarce, it remains a promising prospect for fans of the series.

The Tempest embarks on a 600 year journey to the Andromeda Galaxy. Its main mission is to find a new world for humanity to colonise and thrive. Even though the game does start in the middle of the original Mass Effect trilogy it technically doesn't officially get going until centuries after the end of Mass Effect 3.

Video games are mediated to us via playthroughs, which contain both constant fictional truths (Shepard is human) and variables (Shepard is female). The constants are part of canon, part of the game itself, while the variables are only true in that specific playthrough.

Garrus Vakarian is one of the two tritagonists (alongside Tali'Zorah nar Rayya) of the original Mass Effect trilogy, as well as its remaster, the Legendary Edition. He is a former Citadel Security Services officer and one of Commander Shepard's closest allies during the fight against the Reapers.

While it's generally a good idea to finish companion loyalty missions and side missions prior to the end of the campaign, players can return to any part of the galaxy and complete any lingering quests after they finish the main story.
